Event Details
The Milky Way is a vast swirling storm of stars that is 10 billion years in the making. Our ideas about the nature and structure of the cosmos have grown out of our attempts to understand the Milky Way. Join us as Shane Larson, astronomer and Associate Director of CIERA, explains how we discovered the structure, evolution, and environs of our home galaxy. Learn about how our perceptions of the Milky Way constantly shape and change our understanding of the cosmos on much larger scales. We'll end with some of the many secrets that the galaxy still hides from us, providing astronomers with puzzles and challenges to work on for many years to come.
